The Novigrad Sea is an enclosed karst basin linked to the open sea only through the canyon channel of Novsko ždrilo. The Zrmanja river flows into it, so the water is slightly brackish and noticeably colder where freshwater springs come up. Posedarje's beach is fine light pebble with concrete platforms, in the centre of the village and free; Sveti Duh beach is shallow, holds medicinal mud, and suits children and weaker swimmers. Novigrad has natural pebble beaches under Velebit, a snorkelling trail and kayak rental. From Škabrnja, Novigrad is about 16 kilometres and 19 minutes, Posedarje about 21 kilometres and 23 minutes.
