Zadar is about 22 kilometres and 30 minutes' drive from Škabrnja. The Roman Forum from the 1st century BC is freely accessible, and above it stands the 9th-century church of St Donatus, the largest pre-Romanesque building in Croatia and today a concert venue. The Sea Organ has 35 pipes set beneath the steps of the Riva, and Greeting to the Sun is a 22-metre circle of 300 glass plates that only lights up at dusk — so it is best to save Zadar for the afternoon and evening. The peninsula is pedestrianised; the most practical option is the large Ravnice car park, about 200 metres from the Land Gate. Ticket and parking prices change, so check them on the spot.
